Police investigate East Lyme bank robbery

EAST LYME, Conn. (WTNH) -- State Police are investigating a bank robbery committed in East Lyme Thursday evening.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m., at the Savings Institute Bank and Trust, located at 305 Flanders Road.
Police determined that upon entry into the bank the suspect stated that he had a weapon and demanded cash. The suspect then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police were given a description of the suspect by witnesses and advised surrounding police departments of the robbery and suspect description.
Troopers processed the scene and discovered both physical and forensic evidence.
State Police are asking anyone who might have been in the area of the bank at the time of the robbery and may have seen anything suspicious to contact them at 860-848-6500.
