Police investigate New London stabbing

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police in New London are investigating a stabbing that happened in the city Saturday morning.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m., in the area of 151 Garfield Ave.

Police said a 22-year-old male victim was stabbed in the chest and was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police believe the stabbing is a family violence type of incident and the suspect is known to the victim.

The names of the victim and the suspect are not being released at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
