SOMERS, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened at a Somers convenience store Tuesday night.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m., at the Xtra Mart, located at 169 Main St.
Police said a store employee reported that an armed robbery has just taken place.
Initial investigation determined that two white males in their early 20's entered the store and the first male quickly advanced on the clerk, putting a knife to the clerk's throat.
The suspect then demanded the combination to the safe, police said. The clerk told the suspect he did not know the combination, so the suspect then directed the clerk to open the cash register. Meanwhile, the other suspect acted as a lookout, police said.
An unknown amount of cash was taken and the suspects fled on foot towards Hall Hill Rd., in a northerly direction.
Police said evidence was recovered from the scene and video surveillance was seized.
According to police, the video shows the suspect with the knife wearing blue jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt, and white sneakers. The other suspect was wearing blue jeans, a dark coat and a red, black plaid winter hat.
No injuries were reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
State Police are asking for anyone who has any information regarding this robbery to call 860-896-3200.
