North Branford, Conn. (WTNH) - A Branford man was busted for possession when a police K9 found marijuana in his vehicle, after being stopped for a traffic violation Tuesday.
The incident happened around 7 Tuesday night.
North Branford police said when they stopped Kevin Whalen, 19, of Branford, they suspected that he was in possession of marijuana due to an odor coming from the vehicle.
Police then brought Officer Mauro Piroli and his K9 partner Chase to the scene.
While searching the vehicle, Chase found a pocketbook in a passenger compartment containing a glass pipe which had recently been used to smoke marijuana.
Less than four ounces of marijuana was also found on one of the vehicle's occupants.
The bust was Chase's second assist with a drug arrest, since graduating from narcotic detection school on January 4th.
Whalen was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
