Milford, Conn. (WTNH) - Police in Milford and West Haven are investigating a recent string of armed hotel robberies.
Officers are comparing the robbery of the Hampton Inn in West Haven on February 5 to the robberies of the Red Roof Inn in Milford on Feb. 11 and the Milford Lodge on Feb. 13 to determine if there are any similarities.
In the Milford incidents, witnesses told police that a male entered the hotel armed with a knife and demanded cash. The suspect was able to take an undisclosed amount of money from the Red Roof Inn at 10 Rowe Avenue, but was unable to climb over the counter of the Milford Lodge at 278 Old Gate Lane, so he fled the scene with nothing.
No one injured during these robberies, police say.
The description of the suspect in both of the Milford incidents is very similar.
Witnesses describe his as a black male, 5'8" - 5'10" tall and between 30-40 years of age. He has a thin build and has a goatee with a distinguished white mark.
Police are now determining if these two incidents are similar to the robbery of the Hampton Inn in West Haven.
"Very strong similarities in the cases as far as the suspect and the method. All that information will be compared by the investigators," said Officer Jeffrey Nielsen of the Milford Police Department.
Police have been in contact with local hotels and motels regarding these recent incidents.
