NEW BRITAIN, CT (WTNH) -- Police have arrested a man for arson after a vacant house fire on Saturday. Police say the man admitted to setting the fire.
No one was hurt.
John DiPietro, 40, of 28 Winthrop Street, New Britain, was charged with First Degree Arson and Third Degree Burglary.
The fire was at 38 Winthrop Street at approximately 4:20 A.M. After several hours, the Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire.
Police say the multi-family home sustained heavy structural damage.
The New Britain Police Department said in a statement "through investigation a potential suspect was identified, interviewed and made an admission to starting the fire."
DiPietro is being held on a $250,000,00 bond. No official word about a motive has been given.
