Police make arrest in '08 Wilton death

WILTON, Conn. (WTNH/AP) -- Wilton police now say a teenager in California had a hand in the death of a 13-year-old boy back in 2008.

Wilton police say on June 13, 2008 Nicholas Parisot was driving his motor bike on some wooded trails. That's when he hit a rope tied between two trees. Police say he died of a neck trauma.

Since then, police say they've had a long exhaustive investigation trying to find out just who tied the rope.

On Thursday night, officers arrested a juvenile in Placentia, California for the crime.

Will Gifford, a local teen, says the suspect's family quickly moved out west after Parisot's death.

"The town was all pretty sad. It was something pretty crazy that happened in such a small town, so everyone kinda knew about it and a couple thousand people went to the funeral," Gifford said.

"It's something I can't even imagine and that's why it's been so frustrating for us 'cause it's taken four years because we've had road blocks put up in front of us," said Wilton Police Chief Michael Lombardo.

Police say it took them four years to make an arrest because of lack of cooperation from key figures with material information.

"For those who did not cooperate with us shame on you because it has taken longer than it should have," Chief Lombardo said.

The juvenile, who was not identified, has been charged with second degree manslaughter, a Class C felony, which could carry 10 years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

News 8 went down to the T own Green and everyone we spoke with had heard of the case.

"I was young and a lot of us didn't know what had happened," said Wilton teen Kristen Moss, "but we just heard about it and thought it was awful and sad."

"I think a lot of people are probably happy that some progress has been made 'cause it seemed like nothing ever happened," said Catherine Moss, Wilton mom, "but it seemed like other boys were involved."

"It's been a part of the community for the past four years and hopefully this is one step for closure for the community and more importantly for the family," said Jim Maloney, Wilton dad.
