Police: Norwalk man stabs girlfriend's dog

NORWALK, Conn. (AP) — Norwalk police charged a 35-year-old local man with animal cruelty for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend's pit bull.
The Hour of Norwalk reports that Vamond Elmore told police the dog attacked him at his home Sunday night and he was forced to defend himself. The dog suffered a 1-inch gash above its left hind leg, but is expected to be OK.
Police allege Elmore stabbed the dog in a fit of rage because it wouldn't stop barking as he argued with his father, who was upset when he came home to find a large crowd gathered to watch a boxing match on television.
Elmore was held on $100,000 bail and is to be arraigned Monday in Norwalk Superior Court. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.
