Police search for suspect in stabbing

NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WTNH) -- Naugatuck police are searching for a man on charges he stabbed a 16-year-old multiple times.

Police identified 32-year-old Joseph Gay as their primary suspect in the July 30 stabbing of a teenager on Church Street. The teen is in stable condition after being stabbed multiple times in the chest and back.

Officers are searching for Gay in Stamford, Norwalk and Bridgeport, where he has family, but he has also been spotted in the Waterbury area.

He faces charges of first degree assault and a warrant with nationwide extradition has been filed for his arrest.

A reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
