Madison, Conn. (WTNH) - Police want to question the ex-husband of a Madison woman who was found dead in her yard.

48-year old Barbara Hamburg was found dead at the home she rented on Middle Beach Road West on Wednesday. She, and her ex-husband, were due in court that same morning over back child support.

"At this time, we are seeking to locate her former husband, Jeffrey Hamburg, date of birth 8/5/48. He's a white male six feet, hazel eyes," said Chief Jack Drumm, Madison Police Department.

Well-known criminal defense attorney Hugh Keefe is representing Jeffrey Hamburg. Keefe tells me tonight this whole thing is a little bit of a mystery to him. He says if police want to talk to Hamburg then they should call Keefe.

Hamburg retained Keefe on Thursday. Later that same day, I asked Keefe if Hamburg is a flight risk.

"There's no flight risk, he has not fled, he is not going to flee, he is here," Keefe said.

Keefe says he will stay in contact with both state and local authorities concerning this investigation.

If you have any information, please call police at 203-318-3033.
