Police stop robbery before it happens

SHELTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A man accused of planning to rob a Shelton pizza shop at closing time is under arrest.
        
Shelton and Ansonia police worked together to stop 27-year-old Slawomir Kret of Ansonia before he robbed a Shelton pizza shop.

Police say they found Kret and another man parked behind the restaurant near closing time.

When officer approached the car, Kret refused to get out and a police dog was deployed. Kret was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released for bite wounds.

Officers found masks, gloves, a hat and a tool handle weapon from inside their car.
         
Kret faces charges of first degree criminal attempt robbery, first degree conspiracy to commit robbery and interfering with a police officer. The other man was not charged.

Kret was held on a $75,000 bond and is due back in court on Sept. 24.

Police say the investigation is continuing.
