BROOKLYN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A police officer discharged his taser after a robbery suspect hit him in the face.
41-year-old Myron Johnson was arrested shortly after the Sunoco gas station on Providence Road in Brooklyn was robbed at gunpoint around 4:14 a.m. Monday morning.
The clerk described the suspect as a black man, 5'6" tall, and heavy set. He was wearing a black t-shirt and long pants. He told the clerk he had a gun and demanded money.
A short while after the incident was reported, an officer spotted Johnson, who matched the general description, in the area of Route 6 and Day Street.
While the officer was talking to Johnson, Johnson heard the suspect's description being broadcasted over the police radio. That's when he hit the officer in the face and tried to run away.
The officer tased and arrested Johnson. Police say Johnson still had the money from the robbery on him.
He was held on a $500,000 bond and faces charges that include robbery, larceny and assault of a police officer.
