PLAINVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) -- A warning has been put out by police following the break-ins of hundreds of vehicles in a matter of days. Several towns have been hit, specifically New Britain, Bristol, Southington, and Plainville.
In surveillance video released by police, you can see three men driving a stolen car pull into a parking lot in Plainville and go from car to car with a flashlight looking inside every vehicle. They begin smashing windows and rummaging around in cars grabbing everything from loose change in the cup holders to laptop computers. Stephanie Foster woke up to go to work and found glass on the ground, a back window blown out, and this is not the first time her car was hit.
"This happened to me last year to the other side of my car," Foster said. "What are you going to do?"
There was a lot of damage, but nothing was taken.
"I know for other people they took GPS, iPhone, broke her driver and passenger windows," Foster said.
Police are asking if you recognize the suspects' car or any of the figures to give them a call. All tips are kept confidential. Meanwhile, hundreds of cars have been hit in nearly a half a dozen towns, from Bristol, to New Britain, to Plainville. The towns are working to catch the three man crime wave and they believe the are getting close.
"Just let us know who they are so we can have another lead to follow," said Lt. Eric Peterson, Plainville PD. "We are working a couple of other leads that are strong, so we are pretty confident that it is only a matter of time."
And people who live in the area are grateful to the police and hope an arrest is made soon.
"I have seen a lot of cops," said Wes Allen, of Bristol, "they were hanging out over there."
