WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) --A Waterbury woman has been charged with murder after police say she killed her neighbor by stabbing him in the chest.

56-year-old Darlene Morey was charged murder after police say she stabbed her neighbor, 54-year-old Daniel Emond in his upper right chest.

Morey and Emond were visiting a woman who lives at 161 Scott Road when they got into a fight that turned physical. That's when police say Morey grabbed a knife from the kitchen counter and stabbed Emond in the chest.

Emond was rushed to St. Mary's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The woman they were visiting was not hurt.

Police say Morey and Emond, who both live at different addresses on Scott Road, were friends but weren't in a relationship.

Morey was held on a $1 million bond. She is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Monday morning.

Emond's death marks Waterbury's third homicide of the year.
