Meriden, Conn. (WTNH) - A store clerk was seriously injured during an armed robbery at a convenience store in Meriden.
The male victim in his 60s was found just before 1 p.m. Two customers were browsing around Sam's Convenience Store located at 343 West Main Street when they heard cries for help. They found the victim behind the checkout counter and then called police.
The store clerk was slashed in the face and neck by a sharp object, however police did not find a weapon in the store. He was transported to an area hospital to be treated for non life threatening injuries.
Police say the robbery was caught on the store's surveillance system.
The suspect is described as a light to medium skinned male, in his 20's or 30's. He appears to have a medium to stocky build. He was wearing tan pants with a blue colored vest over a darker colored long sleeve shirt. He wore a blue baseball style cap with what appears to be a tan colored brim and either red or orange sunglasses.
Police say he grabbed the store's cash register.
