Attempted robbery in East Haven

East Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - Police are investigating an attempted robbery at a home in East Haven Saturday morning.

Police say three Hispanic males forced their way into the home at an undisclosed location through the cellar door. 

The robbery was interrupted when the homeowner returned to find the three males on her property. 

One of the suspects told the homeowner a neighbor had informed them that she needed new gutters.  When she told the three men she was going to call the police they fled the scene.  The homeowner was uninjured. 

Police say before entering the home the three suspects knocked on other doors in the area asking people if they needed work done around their homes. 

The three suspects were seen leaving the area in a large cargo truck with black lettering on both sides that read "ROOFING".  The vehicle was last seen traveling in New Haven from Laurel Street into Eastern Street.
