BROOKLYN, Conn. (AP) — Police say a suspect in an armed robbery punched a state trooper in the face and tried to flee after hearing his description broadcast on the trooper's police radio.
The Hartford Courant reports that Trooper Joseph Marsh used his Taser on Monday to subdue the suspect, Myron E. Johnson.
The 41-year-old Johnson of Plainfield was charged with assault on a police officer, robbery and larceny.
Troopers were alerted to an armed robbery at a gas station in the eastern Connecticut town of Brooklyn on Monday morning. According to police, the robber said he had a gun and demanded cash, which the clerk turned over to him.
The robber fled on foot.
Johnson was held on $500,000 bail. It was not known Tuesday morning if he is represented by a lawyer.
