EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A registered sex offender has been arrested by East Haven police for raping a minor.
Police say that Charles Gattert, 50, was arrested late Tuesday night and charged with 1st degree sexual assault (rape) and risk of injury to a minor.
The investigation began in April and eventually led to Tuesday's arrest. Gattert was convicted of sexual assault in 1989 and is a registered sex offender in Connecticut.
Gattert has been held on a $250,000 bond and is being arraigned today.
Leading up to the arrest, Gattert was non-complaint with his arrest. He was tracked down in Prospect by East Haven police.
