SHELTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Shelton police arrested a 58-year-old town resident for possessing what police called an illegal AK-47.
Michael Soda was arrested Thursday, but the case began back on January 11 when police investigated a domestic dispute. During that investigation officers seized several weapons.
One of the weapons, an AK-47, was found to be illegal, police said.
"The rifle was a Norinco brand AK-47 in 7.62 x 39 mm assault rifle made in China which had several features added to make it a banned weapon," police said in a news release.
Soda was also charged with disorderly conduct. He turned himself in on Thursday, and was later released on bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
