Six arrested in East Haven

East Haven, Conn. (WTNH) -

Six teens were arrested Saturday night after being caught attempting to steal several vehicles by East Haven police at a local garage

Police responded shortly before 8 p.m., after a citizen stated a male was trying to break a lock on the gate of Ernie and Son's garage at 925 Foxon Road.

Police arrived on scene and arrested the teens who were inside a vehicle reportedly stolen from Woodbridge attempting to leave.  Police located three keys to vehicles that were stored behind the gate along with tools and a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle occupied by the teens.

Officers determined that all six entered the locked gate area earlier in the evening and stole the keys to the vehicles, and returned later to attempt to break the lock and steal the vehicles.

Charlie Gutierrez, 18, and Brendan Montefusco, 18, both of New Haven, were among the six arrested.  The other four's identities remain undisclosed due to their age.  All six received numerous charges from police.
