Stamford man arrested for child porn

STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police say they found a 69-year-old suspect with child porn and two pairs of binoculars, believed to have been used to watch children at an elementary school next to his home.

He did not try and contact kids and he wasn't on the sex offender registery in Connecticut or the country but still a frightening scenario for parents.

"It's scary, concerned, but are you going to do? How can you control that," said Eduardo Ossio a parent.

Stamford Police say they found hundreds of images of child porn on 69-year-old Roland Roqueta's computer and he lives just a few feet away from Westover Elementary school.

News 8's Stephanie Simoni showed 5th grader Alejandro his picture.

"Yeah, I've seen him. He walks through that door," said Alejandro.

"Wow he's an old man huh," said Eduardo.

Police say the investigation began back in October. They noticed the downloads and then realized the proximity to the school and got a search warrant. They say in addition to the explicit material, they found two pairs of binoculars. They believe he used them to stare at kids in the school yard.

Young Alejandro says he noticed the man.

"Each time he walks through the door and looks out through the door like this and I'm like, what is he doing? Why should he be looking out the door?" said

His father says he often reminds his son on what to do if a stranger approaches.

"Since he was a little baby that's the first thing we taught him, don't talk to strangers on the street. Somebody try to call you or hey you want this candy over here? Nope, run away," said Eduardo.

Roqueta is charged with possession of child pornography, importing child pornography and promoting a minor in an obscene performance.

He is being held on $150,000 bond and the investigation remains open.
