STAMFORD, Conn. (Stamford Advocate) -- A man considered a beloved neighborhood fixture on the city's West Side was found dead early Tuesday morning in an apparent homicide at a Stillwater Avenue laundromat.
The man, identified by friends as 50-year-old Jimmy Decrescenzo, of 26 Main St., Stamford, died of blunt force trauma after an apparent robbery, according to Stamford Police Lt. Diedrich Hohn.
Hohn said police are investigating the incident and would not immediately confirm the victim's identity.
Decrescenzo, who friends said ran an informal side laundry business, doing people's laundry for a fee at Uncle Buck's Laundromat, was found dead inside the laundromat at about 1:20 a.m. Hohn said the killing is believed to have taken place some time Monday night. The laundromat, at 118 Stillwater Ave., closes at 11 p.m.
