Warren (AP) - A Connecticut man who owns several bars and strip clubs has pleaded guilty to failing to pay federal income taxes for more than a decade.

Sixty-six-year-old Vincent Mavilia of Warren pleaded guilty Thursday in Hartford federal court to tax evasion, and he agreed to pay the federal government nearly $360,000 in back taxes, penalties and interest.

He faces up to five years in prison and a fine of nearly $720,000 when he is sentenced on Feb. 23.

Federal prosecutors say Mavilia tried to hide ownership and income from several businesses and properties in the Danbury area and Branford from the IRS from 1992 to 2003. They say he put the properties in the names of his adult daughter and others.
Messages were left Friday for Mavilia and his lawyer.
