MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police say a peeping tom admitted taking pictures of a female Wesleyan University student in a co-ed shower.
In addition to legal trouble, that student's future at Wesleyan is also in question.
It was here where Middletown Police say 19 year old Robert Cristian Rotaru got himself into trouble.
According to detectives, a woman walked into the co-ed bathroom at 156 High Street to take a shower, at which time 19-year-old Robert Cristian Rotaru was in the neighboring stall. She would later notice a hand, holding a camera phone, reaching under her stall, and taking pictures.
Exasperated, the woman asked what he was doing, to which Robert replied, "I'm sorry."
According to Middletown Police, Rotaru actually gave a sworn confession that he took four pictures with his cell phone, two ended up being his own hand and the other two were the victims thighs.
According to Wesleyan, Rotaru has been removed from campus, pending the outcome of the judicial hearing.
Rotaru, from Higganum, plead not guilty to voyeurism and is due back in court next month. While our News 8 camera followed him out, he, his family, and his lawyer remained silent as they walked to their car.
Meanwhile, when we asked Wesleyan officials if there would be any policy changes regarding use of phones in co-ed bathrooms, the university replied there is no change.
