NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH/AP) - A Connecticut judge has declined to reduce the $2 million bail of a man charged with murdering his ex-wife and her mother in Norwalk, after a prosecutor said the suspect wasn't a U.S. citizen and posed a flight risk.
Gilbert Orlando, 56, a native of Jamaica, was arraigned Tuesday in Norwalk Superior Court.
Norwalk police accuse Orlando of shooting 57-year-old Enid Dickens and her mother, 73-year-old Rona Knight, to death Monday at the women's home on Couch Street.
Authorities say Orlando had a history of domestic violence and violated a protective order Dickens had against him in 2008. Their divorce was finalized last month.
According to a police report obrained by News 8, Orlando confessed to the killings. He reportedly called a friend and said 'I killed them all."
Orlando reportedly told detectives he knew there was a gun in the basement of the house.
Judge Bruce Hudock set bail Tuesday and transferred the case to Stamford Superior Court for June 24.
