Suspicious death ruled a homicide

Meriden, Conn. (WTNH) - After discovering a dead body inside a two-family home, police now say the male victim in his 40s was murdered.

After completing an autopsy, the Medical Examiner ruled the death 49-year-old Richard West was a homicide. Police previously believed the gunshot wounds were self-inflicted.

West was found dead on the first floor of 76 Olive Street in Meriden on Friday, Feb. 3. West had been shot in the chest.

The investigation is ongoing and police request that anyone with information call Detective John Wagner at (203) 630-6318.
