Hartford, Conn. (WTNH) -  Hartford's Shooting Task Force makes it's first major arrests.

Two suspects, Tyrone Washington, 20, of Manchester, and Kahari Martin, 21, of Hartford, have been taken into custody and charged with attempted murder, attempt to commit murder, and conspiracy to commit murder.

The Task Force was investigating cases of gun violence when it responded to reports of shots fired in Hartford on July 8. As a result of their investigation, Washington and Martin were arrested.

The Hartford Police also seized a tan Nissan Maxima believed to have been utilized in multiple shootings throughout the city.

Hartford Mayor Pedro E. Segarra praised the work of the Task Force, stating, "Due to their quick response and thorough investigation, two dangerous individuals are no longer a threat to our community."

Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts said, "This is just the beginning of the work of the Shooting Task Force, and it is a great beginning. I commend all law enforcement and judicial agencies involved for their quick action that helped in the apprehension of these dangerous individuals."

The Hartford Shooting Team investigates gun violence and brings those responsible for such violence to prosecution.
