WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) -- A video that a young man from Windsor put on Facebook has landed him in jail, facing felony charges.
Sixteen-year-old Malik McKnight went before a judge in Enfield Superior Court to face a list of child porn charges. He's accused of videotaping a 14-year-old girl having sex with a friend and then posting it to Facebook. The charges range from employing a minor in an obscene performance, possession of child pornography, and risk of injury to a minor. You think there would be shock and awe among Windsor parents and students, but one student said, "I'm not really surprised."
"A 14-year-old actually in the act, does it surprise you," asked News 8's Bob Wilson.
"In this day and age nothing really surprises me," said Heather Kiersznowski, Windsor parent.
"I wish it wasn't happening and I wish people would have better judgment," said Nancy Cheney, Windsor parent.
Court papers obtained by News 8 reveal that McKnight confessed.
"Malik stated they both looked at him and saw that he had his phone out and he was recording them having sex. Alleged victim #1 then told him to stop recording them so he did."
Police says McKnight posted the video to his Facebook page after a fight with the 14-year-old's boyfriend. He agreed to remove it, but initially didn't know how to get it off the internet.
"It scared me and I think that it is sad that kids can have such little respect for themselves that they can let it happen," Nancy said.
Police say students at the high school did see the video and some of them even asked that it be re-posted after it was taken down.
"A lot of kids were talking about the video," said Hannah Cheney, senior at Windsor High School.
"What do you think and how many people were talking about it," asked News 8's Bob Wilson.
"I definitely heard it around the school, some teacher and students have been talking about it," said Cheney.
In the court documents it goes on for page after page in details about the alleged recorded sex acts with a 14-year-old. Police say the sex was consensual, but posting the video to Facebook was not.
Now police are warning parents, saying that you have to talk to your kids about it because once it's out there it is out there forever.
"Last year in advisory they went over another case where a girl committed suicide because she was filmed in such acts and when it did hit the internet it was overwhelming," Nancy said.
