FARMINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Farmington teen was arrested on Tuesday after police say he shot at a school bus with a BB gun, injuring two children.

Nicholas Chiarillo, 19, was arrested after police say he shot at the school bus on Highwood Road. The bus was carrying children from Winding Trails.

Police say Chiarillo admitted to intentionally shooting at the bus.

Police say a BB shattered a window and hit an 11-year-old girl in the cheek. A 9-year-old boy was injured by a piece of broken glass.

Both children were treated at the scene by medical personnel.

The girl told officers she saw three boys standing in a yard and one of them was holding a rifle. As the bus drove by, the window shattered and she felt a pain on her cheek.

Based on her description, police were able to find the suspect.

Chiarillo was charged with third degree assault, third degree criminal mischief and second degree reckless endangerment. He was given a $1,000 non surety bond and scheduled to appear in court on July 24.
