NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A 16-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a car Monday night.

Jackson Dejesus, 16, was struck by the car as he and his friends were crossing North Street in New Britain on Monday night.

Dejesus was transported to Hartford Hospital where he passed away on Wednesday.

The car drove off after the crash and police are still searching for the driver.

The car is described as a light-colored sedan, possibly an older model, tan, Nissan Altima. It's likely the car will have damage on it's right side, specifically the side mirror and windshield.

Anyone with information is asked to call the New Britain Traffic Division at 860-826-3013.
