TORRINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police have identified two juveniles suspected of stealing a baby Jesus statue from a nativity set in Torrington and destroying it.
After receiving an anonymous tip, police were able to identify a male and female suspect who were involved in the incident.
According to police, over the summer of 2012, the teens entered a shed on the grounds of Christmas Village where the baby Jesus was stored. The duo removed the baby Jesus as a prank and then brought the statue into the woods in the area of Gleason St. and the Forest St. bridge.
While the broken remains of the statue were found in the area, police were unable to prove that the teens destroyed the baby Jesus.
Police are now completing arrest warrant applications for the teens. They face criminal trespass and larceny charges.
