East Hampton, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police are investigating the attempted theft of an automated cashier machine at a car wash in East Hampton.
The incident happened on March 25th, at a car wash on Route 66.
According to police, surveillance tapes showed a white man, wearing a dark-colored hoodie, jeans and boots walking from the south side of the car wash toward the bay where the damage occurred.
The man was wearing large white socks over his hands and a surgical-type mask over his mouth and nose.
Police said the man was carrying at least two pry bars.
While the suspect was unable to steal the machine or any money from it, approximately $8,000 worth of damage was caused during the attempted theft.
