CROMWELL, Conn. (WTNH) -- A married couple from Cromwell were arrested Wednesday after their toddler was found wandering in a parking lot unsupervised wearing just a diaper.

The incident occurred just after 8 a.m., at the Woodland Heights Condominium Complex.

Police said a resident of the complex reported that they saw the child wandering through the parking lot barefoot, wearing only a diaper, and entering a vehicle.

The child was reunited with his mother prior to police arrival.

Investigation revealed that the child had woken up before his parents and left the home unnoticed.

The child had been outside, unsupervised for at least 10 minutes.

The parents, 33-year-old Azra Cirikovic, and 34-year-old Kabro Cirikovic, of 143 Woodland Dr., admitted that they overslept and were unaware that their son had left the home.

Both were charged with risk of injury to a minor and were released on $5,000.

They are scheduled to appear in court on June 26th.

The department of Child Services was contacted.

Police said the child appeared to be unharmed.
