WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) -- A mother was arrested for leaving her two children at home without supervision. Her 2-year-old daughter was found wandering in the street.

Officers responded to Murvon Court for the report of a young girl found wandering in the street. The girl appeared to be about 2-years-old and was wearing adult slippers, long pajama pants and a long sleeve t-shirt, police said.

The temperature outside was in the 20's and the road was covered in snow from the night before.

Neighbors took the child in and called police.

It was later determined that Tinatin Crouch left her 15-year-old and 2-year-old at home so she could go to the store. The 2-year-old was asleep at the time, police said.

Police believe the toddler wandered out of the house when the older child fell asleep.

Crouch was taken into custody and released on a $500 bond.

A court date was set for Feb. 5 at Norwalk Superior Court.
