TORRINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A shooting was reported in Torrington Saturday evening and police are still looking for the shooter.
Police received several 911 calls reporting shots being fired in the area of building 12 in the Woodland Hills apartment complex at 330 Highland Avenue at around 6 p.m. Saturday.
A small black vehicle was spotted leaving the area and police attempted to stop the Mazda Protégé.
The vehicle refused to pull over and police say they were lead on a chase that lasted about a mile. The chase ended at a home along Red Mountain Avenue.
Police took the driver, Christian Franco, 18, into custody. He was charged with reckless driving, engaging police in a pursuit, operating a motor vehicle without a driver's license and interfering with an officer.
Franco claimed that he was a victim of the shooting, even though he was not injured, and that is why he rushed from the scene.
Another vehicle, a Honda Civic, also pulled into the same Red Mountain Avenue home.
Police detained the occupants of the vehicle and one of the occupants reported to police that he was shot at and this is why he also fled the scene.
Several pieces of physical evidence have been recovered from the scene, including numerous cartridge cases and bullets.
Police are looking for a suspect vehicle, a 4-door green Buick Century, possibly model year 2001, with the starting digits of 714 on the license plate.
Police are also looking for the following subject, who may possibly be the shooter in question. He is a Hispanic male in his 30's, approximately 5'5" and about 150 pounds.
Police say that they will continue to interview witnesses and people who have information regarding this case.
The Torrington Police Department requests the assistance of the public in the matter, and strongly encourages anyone with information to call police at 860-489-2008 or Detective James Crean directly at 860-489-2061.
Police say that no one was injured in the shooting.
