DANBURY, Conn. (WTNH) -- A State Trooper seized 37.6 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop Monday in Danbury.
The trooper was patrolling I-84 east near exit 2 when he clocked a 2012 Ford Focus driving 82 mph in a 55 mph zone. The Focus sped up to 85 mph when the trooper drove after it.
The car eventually pulled over on Route 7 south near the Danbury Mall.
The trooper searched the car after he smelled marijuana emanating from the car.
After a thorough search, the trooper located two large suitcases, which contained a total of 37.6 pounds of marijuana.
The driver, William J. Servos, 28, of West Hartford was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana greater than 1 kilo, possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless driving.
He was released on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 1.
