SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) -- Two people were arrested after police say they stole a car and lead officers on a chase around South Windsor.
Officers received the call that a tan Honda Accord had been stolen around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25.
The car had a GPS tracking system which the officers used to find and follow the car down Ellington Road, Pierce Road, Sand Hill Road and up Nevers Road.
At one point during the chase, a police car pulled in front of the stolen car in an effort to block it's path, but the driver of the car rammed the police cruiser and kept going.
The car eventually stopped on Kreyssig Road in East Windsor where officers arrested the driver, 30-year-old Derik Schumann, and an unidentified passenger.
Schumann was charged with criminal attempt to commit assault on a police officer, interfering with an officer, reckless endangerment first degree, engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving, operating while license suspended and improper use of a license plate.
He was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on May 3.
He was turned over to the East Windsor Police Department for their charges and other outstanding arrest warrants.
