CROMWELL, Conn. (WTNH) -- Vehicle break-ins occur from time to time, but police in Cromwell are alerting residents after a rash of weekend incidents.
According to police, 14 vehicles parked at the Cromwell Hills and Fox Meadows complexes were broken into Sunday night.
In most cases, windows had been broken out by vandals, as they proceeded to steal valuables from the vehicles.
"This was all about center consoles and gloveboxes," said Sgt. James Kelly. He explained that the vandals had apparently carefully searched through the vehicles to snatch valuable items.
Unlike other recent incidents, in which unlocked cars were targeted, each one of the 14 vehicles affected on Sunday was locked.
"Remove all your valuables from your car, laptops, GPS's, things like that," Kelly reinforced, "from the interior of your car."
If anyone has information on the incident or observes suspicious activities, they are urged to contact police.
