ANSONIA, Conn. (WTNH) -- One of the three Ansonia intruder victims is speaking about some terrifying moments in the privacy of her own home.
Police say someone broke into the woman's home while she was sleeping.
The incident at the Beaver Brook Apartment complex in Ansonia has women around town concerned.
"When I opened my eyes, I saw a shadow of a man run out the back door," the woman said.
Now, the woman, who we'll refer to as Kate, is afraid of her own shadow as the mystery man intruder continues to stalk out women in the early morning hours at Beaver Brook Apartments in Ansonia.
Police believe the same man is walking into homes, with unlocked screen doors and grabbing or groping women.
"I left the glass door open with the screen door closed, fell asleep watching television," Kate said. "I was startled, woken up by a man caressing my legs and my backside and I jumped and yelled my fiance's name."
"You're shaking now, two months later," said News 8's Erin Logan.
That's because Monday, a woman was grabbed by the arm and the man demanded she remove her clothes. She was able to break away.
Kate says she and another woman were targeted in late June. Police say the first victim didn't come forward right away. At first, Kate says police were going door-to-door asking questions, but she doesn't feel they took her complaint seriously.
"They asked my boyfriend if I had mental issues going on and troubles in our relationship," Kate said, "and it was insinuating to me and insulting that they were claiming I was making up a story about the man."
"We have taken it seriously and we still do," said Chief Kevin Hale, Ansonia Police. "We may have run into a dead end on that one."
"It seems his aggression is escalating and I'm afraid one of my neighbors is going to get sexually assaulted or murdered," Kate said.
She feels Monday's attack could've been prevented.
"To say we could've prevented it, we don't know that," said Chief Hale.
Police tell News 8 there are extra patrols at Beaver Brook and management there is taking the matter very seriously. They remind you to keep all sliding doors and windows locked all the time. And if you know of any other victims, please call police immediately.
