Warrant: man held 'empties' for Manchester killer

ENFIELD, Conn. (AP) - An arrest warrant for a Connecticut man accused of accepting stolen beer from a warehouse driver who killed eight co-workers says he only held empty containers for the shooter and didn't benefit from the scheme.

The newly released warrant, obtained by The Hartford Courant, says 33-year-old Sean Quail of Enfield told police that Omar Thornton would later give the empty cans, bottles and kegs to "favored customers."

The warrant says those customers would get credit for the empties, in addition to the original customers who got credit for turning them in.

Police say Thornton shot eight people to death, wounded two others and killed himself at Hartford Distributors in Manchester on Aug. 3.

Quail's wife, Christy, is also charged with accepting stolen items from Thornton.
