Son charged in elderly father's murder

WILTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Wilton police say a 22-year-old son confessed to killing his father in their home.

Aaron Ramsey was held on a one million dollar bond and ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.

Police say Ramsey confessed to stabbing to death his father, 73-year-old Edward Ramsey, inside their home on Signal Hill Road. According to the Connecticut Post , the son used a screwdriver.

According to the affidavit, Ramsey stabbed his father in the stomach, groin, head and heart. He told the police he heard voices telling him aliens were coming for him.

Around 3:19 p.m. Thursday afternoon neighbors called 911 after seeing Aaron covered in blood. He tried to break into a car, and then broke into a home and refused to leave. The homeowner called police and Aaron was transported to Norwalk Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and interviewed by police.

"He was just running and it caught my attention because people don't normally come from that way they come from the driveway, so I was immediately suspicious," said Judy Abilock, neighbor.

It was Aaron's mother that came home and found the body of her husband, Edward Ramsey. Police say he died from blunt force injuries.

Aaron had been living with his parents.

Ramsey faces charges of murder, attempted larceny and burglary in the third degree.

Wilton's police chief called it a tragic day for the family and for the town of Wilton.

"The family are the people who are going to have to live with this for many years and I'm really asking everybody in this room and in this community to respect the Ramseys and what they're going to have to deal with as they move forward with their lives," said Wilton Police Chief Michael Lombardo.

News 8 spoke to the principal of Wilton High School. He said Ramsey graduated in 2008 and was a member of the football team.

"Our goal at this time is to support our school community through this challenging situation," said the principal.

Police say they have been called to the Ramsey's home before, but would not elaborate on why.
