Triple shooting in Hartford

Hartford, Conn. (WTNH) - Hartford police are investigating a shooting that left a woman dead and two others injured.

The victim has been identified as 27-year old Jeanna Flores of Wethersfield. Police say it appears she was just an innocent bystander.

The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. on Franklin Avenue near Brown Street. Police say a fight inside the Franklin Bar & Grille spilled out into the streets.

Some business owners are worrying that the dynamic of this historic street is changing.

"There were a lot of good families that moved away," Gino Denovellis of Hartford said. "Families that come here, not that they're bad, I think some of these families are not ready for family life and it transpires to their kids."

No arrests have been made, but Mayor Pedro Segarra says it's time for club and bar owners to take responsibility for their customers.

"Unfortunately, some people are taking their lives and the lives of others not as seriously as they should, our attention now becomes to analyze and react, but also do more preventative stuff," Mayor Segarra said.

The mayor says that means property and business owners need to become more involved in their communities, while at the same time seeking federal dollars to invest in technology to curtail crime. Meanwhile, as the hunt for suspects continues, those who love Franklin Avenue say the charm of the place remains intact, for now.

"People have to realize that they are susceptible down here," Denovellis said. "It's not that bad though, most of the time it's quiet. People that shoot in this area are not from this area."

The men were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Their names have not been released.
