Clinton, Conn. (WTNH) - A woman was arrested after passing counterfeit $100 bills at several stores at the Clinton Crossing Outlet Center.

According to Clinton Police, Eileen Amy Rivera, 22, of 570 Fifth Ave., New Rochelle, New York, would launder the money by going to each store and buying something of low value, $15 to $20, paying with the fake $100 bill, and receiving the change back and the merchandise.

Police said Rivera was working with a counterfeiting group from Peru and New York City.

Rivera was charged with three counts of first-degree forgery and sixth-degree larceny.

She was held on $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Middletown Superior Court on Wednesday, December 7.
