MADISON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Madison police are looking for a suspect who stole a woman's purse outside the local Stop & Shop.

The incident happened outside the grocery store located at 136 Samson Rock Road around 8 p.m. Tuesday night.

Police say a white male approached a 55-year-old woman, who was seated in her car, grabbed her purse and ran away.

The woman was not injured.

Now police are searching for the man, who is about 20-years-old with a thin build and dark, curly hair. He left the scene in a dark green 4-door sedan, possibly a Pontiac Bonneville, with Connecticut license plates.

Witnesses told officers that the last three characters of the license plate were "ZAC."

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Officer Thomas Bull or the Criminal Investigative Division at 203-245-2721.
