HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The state is holding open houses at three new manufacturing centers created at community colleges located in Bridgeport, Danielson and Waterbury.

Participants will be able to learn more about the manufacturing machine technology programs being offered at Housatonic , Naugatuck and Quinebaug Valley community colleges.

The programs will provide students with entry-level and advanced manufacturing skills. There will be hands-on instruction, interactive lab experiences, theory and possible on-site manufacturing internships and apprenticeships. The program is designed to be completed in one year.

The first open house is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. at Housatonic Community College. Others are planned throughout the summer. The manufacturing centers were created in a recent job creation bills approved by the legislature.

A list of open houses is available on the Board of Regents website.
