Oxford, Conn. (WTNH) - A parent in Oxford is concerned for her child's safety after her bus stop was moved.
Melissa Gyba is a high school student and was surprised to find out on the first day of school that her bus stop is no longer at the bottom of her driveway. It's been moved to a busy Route 67.
"Route 67 is the main road through town, it's a busy road and it's not safe in the pitch dark. Nobody can see my daughter and she is going to get hit," said Melissa's mother, Darla Gyba.
"The cars they don't see you coming over the hump, I can't see them and that is how collisions happen," Melissa said.
There are no sidewalks and no street lights in the area.
"It's dangerous. I have almost got hit by cars. A couple of times I had to jump in the bushes," Melissa said.
Darla also has other concerns about her daughter walking alone on a dark country road.
"There are some pedophiles registered in the area and I'm concerned. I have to protect my daughter," she said.
The superintendent says that they are going to talk with the bus company and investigate the situation.
