Bridgeport, Conn. (WTNH) -- A ceremony will remember the men killed in the L'Ambiance Plaza collapse in Bridgeport 25 years ago today.
At the time in 1987 the L'Ambiance Plaza collapse was the worst construction accident in Connecticut history.
28 workers were killed, many others injured. They were building a 16 story apartment complex when floors gave way, falling onto each other like a stake of pancakes.
A federal investigation lead to the suspension of so-called "lift slab" construction, the method used at L'Ambiance.
Each year union workers, family members and others gather to mark the sad anniversary. A ceremony is set for 10:30 a.m. on the south side of Bridgeport City Hall.
