Westport, Conn. (WTNH) - Connecticut is the new home to 11 rescued dogs. They were flown in Saturday from Georgia.
The Alliance in Limiting Strays is taking them in and they're now looking to put them up for adoption.
It was a very special rescue mission. Eleven mixed breed dogs arrived from the streets of Athens, Georgia into the arms of volunteers from TAILS of Westport.

They’re mission is to get these future friends adopted to good homes in Connecticut where back in Georgia they may not be as lucky.
"Basically emphasizing, quantifying the need for people to spay and neuter,” said T.A.I.L.S. spokeswoman Dorrie Harris. “This is the end result. These are dogs that wouldn’t have a good chance in the south of being adopted…They’re just looking for homes.”
The pooches were jet-lagged and nervous. But hey, after more than nine hours of travel by plane and then by car, you would be grumpy, too.
The journey wasn't too bad though. A group of volunteer pilots from “ Pilots and Paws ” did their best flying in the dogs to Sikorsky Airport. And the folks at TAILS know these future friends will be very happy soon enough when they are adopted.

The Puppy Palooza adopt-a-thon will be held Saturday, Dec. 11 and Sunday, Dec. 12 at Best Friends at 528 Main Avenue in Norwalk.
