Authorities find more sick horses on Easton farm

EASTON, Conn. (AP) — State animal control officials say they have found more sick horses on an Easton farm owned by a man already facing animal cruelty charges.

The Connecticut Post reports an inspection last week at the Pee Wee Horse Farm turned up 23 horses in need of care and three horses in need of immediate medical treatment.

The farm's owner, 76-year-old Apollonio Vittorio, was charged in January with animal cruelty after authorities found nearly two dozen animals on the same farm with untreated medical conditions.

Officers said they found 92 horses on the farm, which only had shelter for about 30 of them.

Vittorio has withdrawn his application for probation. But he tells the newspaper the allegations against him are "lies." He is due back in Superior Court on July 12.
