Westport, Conn. (WTNH) - The Westport Marine Police are currently investigating a boating accident that occurred in the area of the Campo Marina Saturday evening.
According to officials, the Westport police received a call shortly before 5:30 from a passenger on a boat near Campo Beach. The caller told police a person on the boat was hit by the propeller of the boat. The person was back on the boat and the boat was heading back to the marina.
Police say marine unites were immediately dispatched and intercepted the vessel while it was on its way to the marina. The victim, a 21-year-old male, was treated and transported to Norwalk Hospital for serious injuries to his lower extremities.
Police arrested 21-year-old Cyrus Hussein Fardoust of Rockville, Maryland, for reckless operation of a vessel with under the influence. He is currently being held on $10,000 bond.
